Herbal, floral, aromatic, and almost cannabis-like. The Fonseca No. 1 strikes me as a perfect cigar for those just starting out in the world of cigars.
It boasts excellent presentation and a good price. While it doesn’t astonish, it doesn’t offend either, making it a great humidor staple.
My issue with the Fonseca No. 1 lies in its wrapper, which often comes with imperfections cleverly hidden by the paper that covers the cigar. Additionally, it frequently has draw issues.
Fonseca No 1. One of only two Cazadores currently available in the Habanos vitolario, the other being the RyJ Cazadores; however, flavour-wise, they couldn't be more different. There are almost no discernible flavours from the cold draw, but the cigar opens with a light and floral profile, accompanied by notes of sweet hay and a touch of cream in the first third. Moving into the second third, hints of unsweetened coffee emerge, with the occasional puff revealing a delicate citrus nuance. The body develops to a medium intensity, with a slight dryness. In the final third, the sweetness returns, complemented by the creaminess and a subtle suggestion of coffee.
Overall, this is a very enjoyable cigar, notable for its excellent quality-to-price ratio.
Fonseca No 1
For the last decade, this has been one of the best values in the Habanos portfolio. Very consistent construction and rich flavors. A bit unique profile as well. Has hints of incense not noticed on other marcas. Truly great cigar, that 20 years ago I wouldn't have said the same.

I tried to buy some the other day and was put off by the merchant. Fonseca look so cosy in their little paper jackets that I think they have to be my next cigar.
